54. 'Preferred' Respect

Whenever I travel by plane, I am always amazed at those moments of customer service extended by the airlines - the order of preference given when boarding depends on your ‘status’ with them. You start with first class, business class, platinum members, then gold and silver and then those multiple zones of the bigger aircrafts – and once you feature in none of the above, you can then board. While we went through a different channel this time – passengers with kids go first – I wonder if it is so easy to get tempted by such differentiated service to earn that wee-bit of ‘preferred respect’.

33. Metro Images

There is a special connection I share with people who regularly commute by the train to work – right from the time we wait for that 6-car or the 8-car on the platform and then rushing to grab a spot to sit/stand. While not that aware of it most of time nevertheless, the exposure itself offers a metaphor of coming together of people from different walks of life. I hope to do a shoot on ‘glimpse from the metro’ one day (good theme for the project). However, today I was quite amazed at how unusually calm and serene the platform appeared when I was waiting for the train after work – until the approaching train motioned to a halt.

19. Architecture

Having lived in the DC metropolitan area for over three years, I have come to love this city for all that it offers - especially the mix of the old with the new. I aim to do a theme on ‘all things DC’ in the coming months. For now, here is an interesting building that I sometimes walk past by on Pennsylvania Avenue. This one is the Mexican Embassy  - nestled in the shadow of a newly constructed glossy building. DC does have such mix of architecture but not so unique as this one.

16. National Harbor

Visit to the National Harbor in DC is not complete without capturing some of its gorgeous backdrop - the evening skyline, site by the canopy, water taxis, reflection of the sun,  The Awakening and instant change in colors at dusk - Simply magnificent!

8. Postcards

There is something nice about receiving post-cards in the snail-mail – and no, not those usual promotional ones but a personal one. Our close friends – touring around the world and while at it, blogging about it here – mailed us one. I love the way you can describe about your whereabouts from these ‘multiple-choice’ categories. Quite indigenous!

Thank you guys for this one – it surely made the mail-sorting ordeal much more enjoyable!
