Mosaic art dates back centuries ago to the Greeks and the Romans who used this form as a luxury item in decorating their entire empire. Today, you can see fragments of this art in several 'art-deco' styles, some depicting traditional designs, some modernistic, some representing specific forms, while many remaining abstract. I took a class recently and was a lot of fun simply playing around with shapes of glass, tiles and combining them to form beautiful pieces of art.
